Plastics piping systems for non-pressure underground drains and sewers - Polypropylene (PP) - Part 1: Specifications for pipes, fittings and the system

This part of EN 1852 specifies definitions and requirements for solid wall pipes with smooth internal and external surfaces extruded from the same compound throughout the wall, fittings and the system of polypropylene (PP) piping systems in the field of non-pressure underground drains and sewers for wastewater. NOTE 1 Products complying with this document can also be used in non-pressure underground drains and sewers for surface water. This document is applicable to: — solid wall pipes and fittings which are intended to be used buried underground outside the building structure reflected in the marking of the products by "U", and — solid wall pipes and fittings which are intended to be used buried underground both outside (application area code “U”) and within the building structure reflected in the marking of products by "UD". This document specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to in this document. NOTE 2 Multilayer pipes with different compounds throughout the wall are covered by EN 13476 2 [1] (see also CEN ISO/TR 27165 [2]). NOTE 3 Plastics piping systems made of PP with mineral modifiers (PP-MD) are covered by EN 14758-1 [3]. This document covers a range of nominal sizes, and pipe series and gives recommendations concerning colours. NOTE 4 It is the responsibility of the purchaser or specifier to make the appropriate selection from these aspects, taking into account their particular requirements and any relevant national regulations and installation practices or codes. This document is applicable to PP pipes and fittings, their joints and to joints with components of other plastics and non-plastics materials intended to be used for buried piping systems for non-pressure underground drains and sewers. Fittings can be manufactured by injection-moulding or be fabricated from pipes, fittings and/or mouldings. NOTE 5 Pipes, fittings and other components conforming to any of the plastics product standards listed in Annex C can be connected to pipes and fittings conforming to this document, when they conform to the requirements for joint dimensions given in Clause 6 and to the requirements of Table 14.

It is the responsibility of the user to establish appropriate safety and health practices. Warning — It is absolutely essential that tests conducted in accordance with this document be carried out by suitably qualified staff. This document specifies methods to determine 99Tc by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICPMS) in supply water, drinking water, rainwater, surface and ground water, marine water, as well as cooling water, industrial water, domestic, and industrial wastewater after proper sampling, handling, and test sample preparation. The detection limit depends on the sample volume, the instrument used, the background count rate, the detection efficiency, the counting time, and the chemical yield. The detection limit of the methods described in this document, using currently available ICP-MS instrumentation, is approximately 0,2 ng·l−1 to 0,5 ng·l−1 (0,1 Bq·l−1 to 0,3 Bq·l−1), which is much lower than the WHO criteria for safe consumption of drinking water (100 Bq·l−1)[4]. The methods presented in this document are not intended for the determination of ultratrace amount of 99Tc. The methods described in this document are applicable in the event of an emergency situation, but not if 99mTc is present at quantities that could cause interference. Filtration of the test sample is necessary for the methods described in this document if suspended solids are present. The analysis of 99Tc adsorbed to suspended matter is not covered by this method. The analysis of the insoluble fraction requires a mineralization step that is not covered by this document. In this case, the measurement is made on the different phases obtained. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure the validity of this test method for the water samples tested.

This document applies to machines also equipped with the devices or additional working units listed in the Scopes of ISO 19085-5:2024, ISO 19085-6:2024, ISO 19085-7:2024 and ISO 19085-9:2024. This document defines the procedures for classifying, testing and labelling of cartridges for powder actuated tools (PAT cartridges), as defined in Clause 3 of this document. This document applies to PAT cartridges which are all classified as P1. This document does not apply to pyrotechnic articles containing blasting agents and military explosives except black powder and flash composition. PAT cartridges contain pyrotechnic composition(s) delivering mainly gases, intended to propel a piston. The piston propels fasteners (e.g. nails) or drives hard marking characters into appropriate materials.
