Workplace exposure - Size fraction definitions for measurement of airborne particles

This document specifies sampling conventions for airborne particle size fractions to assess health-related exposure resulting from the inhalation of particles in workplace atmospheres. Conventions are defined for the inhalable, thoracic and respirable fractions. The sampling conventions only describe the inhalation of particles and their penetration in the respiratory tract as governed by inertia (impaction). Exhaled particles and deposition in the respiratory tract by other mechanisms, e.g. diffusion, are not considered in this document. The sampling conventions defined in this document apply to both indoor and outdoor workplaces. The conventions assume particles penetration and only oral breathing as a worst-case scenario. Nevertheless, the conventions are applicable to both oral and nasal breathing. The conventions are defined based on assumptions given in Clause 6. The choice of convention for a specific application depends on the region of the respiratory tract affected by the health impact of the particle component of interest (see Clause 5). The conventions can be applied to various metrics, including particle number, length, surface area, volume, or mass, depending on the type of particle analysis performed on the sampled aerosol fraction. The health-related fraction concentrations defined in this document are often expressed as the mass of sampled particles per volume of sampled air to allow comparison with mass-based occupational exposure limit values. The conventions primarily apply to the aforementioned metrics, however, they are not applicable to situations involving limit values expressed in a different metric, such as fibre limit values defined by length, diameter, and aspect ratio, unless a measurement procedure explicitly specifies sampling a particular health-related size fraction [11]. The primary objective of this document is to establish standardized conventions for health-related particle size fractions. Sampling is generally carried out using dedicated samplers, for which there is no need to measure the aerodynamic size distribution of the airborne particles to be sampled. Samplers separating airborne particles into one or more relevant fractions are currently available. In general, no assumptions or pre-knowledge are needed on the number of modes, modal diameter(s) or width of the particle aerodynamic size distribution of the airborne particles to be sampled. The conventions in this document are intended to be used for the determination of the exposure of an average worker based on average penetration curves. This document is not intended to determine the deposited dose of an individual worker. The conventions are primarily intended for assessing workers’ exposure to airborne particles by sampling the airborne particles. This document does not apply to large particles emitted at high speed that travel due to their initial momentum, instead of being carried by the air (airborne) and aspirated into humans’ respiratory tract and aerosol samplers by suction (see Annex B). All wind speeds referenced throughout this document are based on the relative speed between the worker and the surrounding air.

Geographic information - Geodetic references - Part 2: Unique identification of geodetic ground stations (ISO/DIS 19161-2:2026)

This standard will provide a description of the numbering system replacing the DOMES numbering. The description of the DOMES numbering can be found in MERIT/COTES joint working groups, MERIT campaign: connection of reference frames, implementation plan, 1983. The standard will provide to the geodetic data producers and users a proper identification of the permanently instrumented stations, (e.g. those used in the production of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame and other similar stations), with special emphasis on the backward compatibility with existing DOMES numbers, which will have a positive impact on interoperability issues when merging several data from different communities. This standard will: • support interoperability among GNSS providers (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BEIDOU, …) • clarify the potential confusion between communities which have already adopted their own numbering systems • support the UNGGIM GGRF resolution on global geodetic infrastructure.

Fine ceramics (advanced ceramics, advanced technical ceramics) - Methods for chemical analysis of high purity barium titanate powders (ISO/DIS 21813:2026)

ISO 21813 specifies methods for the chemical analysis of fine high purity barium titanate powders used as the raw material for fine ceramics. ISO 21813 stipulates the determination methods of the barium, titanium, aluminium, cadmium, calcium, cobalt, dysprosium, iron, lead, magnesium, manganese, nickel, niobium, potassium, silicon, sodium, strontium, vanadium, zirconium, carbon, oxygen and nitrogen contents in high purity barium titanate powders. The barium and titanium contents, the major elements, are determined by using an acid decomposition-gravimetric method or an acid decomposition-inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) method. The aluminium, cadmium, calcium, chromium, cobalt, dysprosium, iron, lead, magnesium, manganese, nickel, niobium, potassium, silicon, strontium, vanadium and zirconium contents are simultaneously determined via an acid digestion-ICP-OES method. The nitrogen content is determined by using an inert gas fusion-thermal conductivity method, while that of oxygen is determined via an inert gas fusion-IR absorption spectrometry method. Finally, the carbon content is determined using a combustion-IR absorption spectrometry method or a combustion-conductometry method.

Methods of testing cement - Part 15 - Sulfate resistance - Flat prism method

This document describes test methods (reference and alternative) applicable to cast test specimens for evaluating the Sulftate Resistance (SR characteristic) of cements. Sulfate resistance means that these binders can be used in concrete bodies submitted to sulfate attacks. In these methods, the test is carried out under controlled exposure conditions using an increased concentration of sulfate solution. These test conditions are intended to accelerate external sulfate attack. The reference test method is adapted from the modified SVA test method (German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt), Expert Committee (SVA)): “Testing the Sulfate Resistance of Cements with pozzolanic main constituents”. The modified SVA test method is listed in European Assessment Document – EAD 150007-01-0301, Annex C. This test method is appropriate for various binders, in particular those with pozzolanic main constituents. The alternative test method is listed in European Assessment Document – EAD 150009-01-0301, Annex A. This test method is appropriate for CEM III/A cements.

ISO 17879:2017 specifies the design, type testing, marking and manufacturing tests and examinations requirements for self-closing cylinder valves intended to be fitted to refillable transportable gas cylinders which convey compressed, liquefied or dissolved gases. NOTE 1 The main applications for such self-closing cylinder valves are in the calibration gas and beverage industries. ISO 17879:2017 covers the function of a self-closing cylinder valve as a closure. NOTE 2 Requirements for standard cylinder valves are given in ISO 10297. Eurocode 1 - Actions on structures - Part 1-8: Actions from waves and currents on coastal structures

1.1 Scope of EN 1991 1 8 (1) EN 1991 1 8 gives principles and rules to determine the values of wave and current actions on structures and civil engineering works in the coastal zone, i.e. works connected to, or in close vicinity to the shore. NOTE 1 Provisions in EN 1991 1 8 are limited to hydrodynamic actions that can be directly quantified in terms of wave and/or current induced pressures and associated forces and moments on structures or structural parts. NOTE 2 As opposed to offshore conditions, waves or currents in the coastal zone are generally affected by the presence of the seabed or shore. NOTE 3 The coastal zone is typically defined as the area between the shoreline and the deep-water limit. (2) EN 1991 1 8 describes the principles for defining the hydrodynamic conditions to be used for design, including sea water levels. (3) EN 1991 1 8 addresses specifically actions from currents and waves on the following structure types: — cylindrical structures; — subsea pipelines; — suspended decks; — vertical face structures; — permanently moored floating structures. NOTE 1 Additional guidance can be needed for: — moored structures in the coastal zone for renewable energy production or related to oil and gas production or processing; — moored structures spanning areas with variable wave and current states (e.g. floating aquaculture farms or floating bridges). NOTE 2 For hydraulic pressures caused by quasi-static water levels, and ground water, see EN 1997 (all parts). (4) Actions addressed in EN 1991 1 8 do not cover: — hydraulic resonance in sheltered areas or basins (phenomena also known as harbour resonance); — translation waves, e.g. tsunamis; — waves and currents induced by maritime operations, i.e. vessel wake, berthing and mooring; — hydrodynamic actions induced by earthquakes; — ice-induced pressures and forces; — coastal structures where flood risk and/or erosion or sediment management is the dominant function. 1.2 Assumptions (1) The assumptions given in EN 1990 apply to this document. (2) In addition, it is assumed that actions from waves and currents on coastal structures are determined by personnel appropriately qualified and experienced in the following fields: a) physical coastal environment including physics of waves and currents, statistical properties and propagation of such; b) marine hydrodynamics, wave and current interaction with structures in general and wave and current actions on structures in the coastal zone including i) fixed structures, and ii) floating structures; c) advanced methods including probabilistic methodology and physical model testing.

Plastics - Determination of the viscosity of polymers in dilute solution using capillary viscometers - Part 5: Thermoplastic polyester (TP) homopolymers and copolymers (ISO/DIS 1628-5:2026)

This part of ISO 1628 specifies a method for the determination of the viscosity number (also referred to as "reduced viscosity") of dilute solutions of thermoplastic polyesters (TPs) in certain specified solvents. The method is applicable to poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET), poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT), poly-(cyclohexylenedimethylene terephthalate) (PCT), and poly(ethylene naphthalate) (PEN), as well as to copolyesters and other polyesters, referred to in ISO 20028-1:2019, that are soluble in one of the specified solvents under the specified conditions. The viscosity number is determined by the general procedure specified in ISO 1628-1:2024, observing the particular conditions specified in this part of ISO 1628. The determination of the viscosity number of a thermoplastic polyester provides a measure of the relative molecular mass of the polymer.
